A two-day state conference of the Sabarimala Ayyappa Seva Samajam began in Chengannur, Kerala, on Saturday, May 9, 2026, with state president P.N. Narayana Varma inaugurating the council meeting. The event brings together 450 selected delegates from 78 taluks across Kerala.
The conference adopted an action plan to form Ayyappa devotee groups at the ward level and establish Ayyappa devotee villages at the panchayat level. The initiative aims to strengthen grassroots engagement among Ayyappa devotees in preparation for religious activities, particularly around the Sabarimala pilgrimage season.
Spiritual speaker Saritha Iyer is scheduled to inaugurate the delegates' conference on Sunday, while national president S.J.R. Kumar will deliver the keynote address. The Samajam, a voluntary organization active across multiple Indian states, also operates branches in Gulf countries, Singapore, the United States, Europe, and Africa.
The conference will conclude on Sunday with the adoption of resolutions and a valedictory session.
