Former CPI(M) Leader P.K. Sasi Launches Democratic Marxist Front in Kerala
Former Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader P.K. Sasi launched the Democratic Marxist Front (DMF) in Kerala, aiming to unite CPI(M) rebels across the state. The DMF's first district council meeting will be held in Palakkad on May 14, where the 311-member council will review the political situation following the Assembly elections and outline the group's future direction.
The DMF plans to pursue an authentic Left political ideology, according to Sasi, who cited the CPI(M)'s flawed policies and arrogant attitude of some leaders as reasons for the party's setback in the elections.
Sasi also claimed that his defeat in Ottappalam was due to a "vote leakage" from the UDF and alleged that his group was instrumental in defeating LDF candidates in several constituencies.
The DMF may also form a parallel front to the existing Left Democratic Front in cooperation with the United Democratic Front, by bringing together Left-leaning groups that have distanced themselves from the CPI(M). The court is not involved in this matter, but the DMF's next steps will be decided in the upcoming district council meeting, with Sasi set to hold discussions with former CPI(M) leaders who contested and won as UDF candidates.
