A motorcycle crashed into an overhead traffic signal pole and became lodged there after colliding with a car near the 7100-block of Scott Road at the intersection of 72nd Avenue and 120th Street in British Columbia on Saturday shortly before 3 p.m. PT. The collision occurred at the Surrey-Delta border, prompting an emergency response and major traffic disruption.
The motorcyclist sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital, while the driver of the car was not injured, according to the Delta Police Department. Police confirmed the crash involved only the two vehicles and no additional parties.
Photos and videos circulating online show the motorcycle tangled in the traffic light structure above the intersection. Witnesses reported stopping to observe the rare scene, with some capturing footage as crews prepared to remove the vehicle.
Authorities closed Scott Road between 70th Avenue and 72nd Avenue to facilitate vehicle removal and debris clearance. The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing. The police will release further updates as available.
