Andhra Pradesh has completed preparations for the Kharif-2026 agricultural season, with the state government ensuring timely availability of subsidized seeds, fertilizers, and irrigation, Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu said Friday. An advance action plan is being implemented to prevent disruptions and support seamless farming operations across the state.
The Andhra Pradesh State Seed Development Corporation will distribute 7.46 lakh quintals of subsidised seeds for paddy, groundnut, millets, and pulses starting May 15 through Rythu Seva Kendras. All seed lots undergo laboratory quality testing before release, and green manure seeds will be supplied at 50% subsidy to enhance soil fertility.
Fertilizer supply is secure, with 7.77 lakh tonnes of urea, DAP, and complex fertilizers in stock, the minister said, adding that punitive action will be taken against hoarding or price manipulation. A coordinated irrigation plan with the Water Resources Department ensures water release will begin May 15, following reservoir and canal assessments.
The state provided irrigation to 99.35 lakh acres during Kharif-2025, a record coverage, and the government reaffirmed its commitment to full support for farmers in the upcoming season. The seed distribution and water release schedules will be monitored in real time to address field-level challenges.
The phased rollout of inputs and irrigation will begin May 15, with officials from the agriculture and water departments conducting on-ground reviews to ensure implementation.
