Karnataka Proposes ₹15,500 Crore Knowledge City at Bengaluru Airport

The Karnataka State Policy and Planning Commission (KSPPC) has proposed the establishment of Wisdom Valley, a world-class Knowledge City, at the Bengaluru Airport City, located near the Kempegowda International Airport. The project seeks to create a globally recognised ecosystem for knowledge creation, dissemination, and application by integrating international institutes, research centres, innovation hubs, and knowledge-based industries within a single integrated urban framework.
The proposed project will be implemented in phased stages, comprising planning, infrastructure development, institutional establishment, and operationalization, with an estimated cost of approximately ₹15,500 crores.
The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Hari Marar has expressed interest in engaging further to assess how Wisdom Valley and the Airport City development may be aligned and leveraged in a complementary manner to maximise benefits for the State.
The proposed Wisdom Valley will spread over 463 acres and will feature business parks, a global innovation hub, an education and health district, and other facilities. The court or relevant authorities are expected to review the proposal and provide further guidance on the next steps, with the project's implementation expected to commence after necessary approvals.
