The Election Commission issued a notice on March 5, 2026, directing Booth Level Officers in West Bengal to revisit voters’ homes and spot those removed during the Special Intensive Revision.
The SIR ran from December 27, 2025 to February 28, 2026, a three‑month campaign that leaned heavily on local BLOs to clean the electoral registry.
Ataur Rahaman, a Kanthi teacher and BLO, said he has not received an official directive yet but is ready to comply once one arrives.
Deepa Chowdhary of Chandannagar reported that the revisit feels less pressured than the earlier SIR, even though she has not yet received a fresh order from the district officer.
Sandip Sarkar from Islampur added that the hard part of the job was already finished, so the revisit should proceed smoothly.
The commission has already sent comparable instructions to Chief Electoral Officers in 20 other states where SIRs concluded, and it aims to publish revised rolls by March 15.
