The Forest Government Higher Secondary School in Pudur Nadu, a tribal village in the Jawadhu Hills of Tirupattur district, recorded a 98% pass rate in the 2026 Plus Two examinations, the highest among three forest-run schools in Tamil Nadu. Of 91 students who appeared, 89 passed, including 38 girls, with over 70% securing first-class marks.
Established in 1919, the school is the oldest forest higher secondary institution in the state. It outperformed the forest schools in Jamunamarathur (97%) and Nellivasal (93%). Students travel from 18 remote tribal hamlets, often walking long distances due to lack of bus services in the hilly terrain. The school also supports students from Nellivasal by conducting joint classes in commerce and physics due to teacher shortages there.
Headmaster R. Kumaran credited the result to student discipline, parental involvement, and consistent support from teachers and Forest Department officials, including Forest Ranger K.R. Cholarajan. District Collector K. Sivasoundaravalli, DFO M. Mahendran, and CEO K. Munisubburayan praised the school's performance. The government plans to review infrastructure and staffing needs at forest schools in the region during a meeting scheduled for May 15, 2026.
