Australia clinched the third Test at Newlands after Mitchell Starc delivered a 6/72 spell, dismantling South Africa’s top order.
Starc’s 6 wickets came in the first 20 overs of the second innings, turning the tide when the hosts were 203/1. He skittled Bedingham for 50, Mulder for a duck, then on the second ball of the over snared Jansen and Rickelton. The collapse saw the South Africans tumble from 203/1 to 329 all out, a 126‑run fall in just 18 overs.
With 20 five‑wicket hauls in Tests, Starc joins Dale Steyn atop the active fast‑bowler list. He said the pressure of the deciding match was "intense, but the ball responded". South Africa’s captain, Temba Bavuma, called the collapse a "shock" and praised the left‑arm pace as a "game‑changer".
The series remains level at 1-1, and the final Test at Johannesburg will decide the winner. Both sides will look to keep the momentum going.
