Two women from Delhi, residing in Ward 19 of Sohna, Gurugram, claimed they married in a temple and sought protection from local authorities after their relatives filed a missing persons complaint. Police responded on May 8, 2026, following an online complaint and conducted an investigation in Khatikwada Mohalla.
The women, both adults, told officers they had been close friends for years and chose to live together, asserting they faced threats from family members. They presented their temple marriage as the basis for their request for administrative protection, officials said.
A crowd gathered in the neighborhood after relatives, who had been searching for the women for days, informed police of their whereabouts. No criminal case has been registered, and no coercion or abduction was found during initial inquiries.
The women were allowed to leave with mutual consent after standard legal procedures were completed, a senior police officer confirmed. The administration has not issued further orders, and no court hearing or follow-up action has been scheduled.
