Dashcam footage from the Sri Venkateswara Swami Temple shows a red Acura RDX, registered to 19‑year‑old Alexandros Paporakis, entering the parking lot at 12:55 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11, and departing within fifteen minutes.
Paporakis had previously drafted an eight‑page manifesto that contained racial slurs and a call to kill non‑white people. The document was handed to police by a co‑worker who had warned authorities days earlier.
Temple officials said the visit was unexplained but that no weapons were found and no one was injured. They added that security measures have been increased to 9 a.m.–9 p.m. with armed guards.
Paporakis’ mother, Maria Paporakis, was questioned by the Cook County Police but declined to cooperate.
The Cook County Public Defender’s office, representing the defendant, said the case is in its early stages and that statements made by police are only allegations. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 15 at the Cook County Courthouse.
Police say the suspect used a red Acura RDX to approach the temple because he wanted to remain unseen. The incident has prompted a review of security protocols at the temple and neighboring churches.
