Australia has omitted fast bowlers Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood from its limited overs squads for the upcoming tours of Pakistan and Bangladesh. The trio will miss the three-match series against Pakistan starting May 30, and the subsequent tour of Bangladesh.
The teams will feature new faces, including uncapped all-rounder Liam Scott and Australia Under-19 World Cup captain Ollie Peake, who have earned their first senior international call-ups.
Selection chairman George Bailey said the tours presented opportunities for emerging players, and that the blend of experienced and new players will provide a nice mix for the subcontinent tours.
The tours are part of Australia's preparations for the Cricket World Cup to be held in South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe in October next year. Cummins, Starc, and Hazlewood are expected to use the break to prepare for Australia's World Test Championship campaign, which resumes in August.
The squads will travel to Pakistan for three ODIs and then to Bangladesh for three ODI games and three T20 Internationals, with the final match scheduled for June 21. The teams will resume training and preparation after the completion of the Indian Premier League commitments for some players.
