The wedding is no longer happening at the Yelahanka Palace. Andhra Pradesh Congress chief YS Sharmila confirmed on Saturday that the ceremony for her daughter Anjali Reddy will be shifted to another venue. This decision comes just days after her brother, YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, rejected her request to use the Bengaluru property for the event.
The refusal was blunt. In a letter sent earlier this month, Jagan Reddy cited security and privacy issues, arguing that the influx of guests, caterers, and photographers would compromise the safety of his family. "At the end of the day, this is my home and I want to ensure that my family and I are safe here," Jagan wrote, though he did offer his Lotus Pond residence in Hyderabad as an alternative.
Sharmila, however, pushed back hard on her social media handle X, asserting legal ownership of the Yelahanka property. She claimed the asset was allotted entirely to her and her children during the family property division after Jagan became Chief Minister. "I am not someone who stoops to covet what does not belong to me," she stated, emphasizing that the house held emotional significance as the place where their father, former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, spent time.
The standoff has escalated beyond family walls, drawing sharp political fire. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu criticized Jagan Reddy for his treatment of his sister and mother, turning a personal dispute into a partisan attack. The controversy has illuminated reported property differences between the siblings, putting the YSRCP leadership under scrutiny.
Anjali Reddy is slated to marry Dr Somala Raghuram Reddy on November 25, with a reception planned in Hyderabad on December 5. As the wedding date approaches, the YSRCP and TDP are likely to continue trading jabs, with the final venue choice serving as a symbolic battleground for both family honor and political leverage.
