Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) has reported a 10% growth in cargo operations during the 2025-26 fiscal, with 72,178 metric tonnes of cargo handled, despite disruptions caused by the West Asia conflict. The growth was driven by higher movement of perishables, pharmaceuticals, industrial consignments, and e-commerce shipments through CIAL’s expanding cargo network.
CIAL launched a Dedicated Trucking Centre to streamline landside cargo movement and improve logistics efficiency, and expanded its Export Cargo Warehouse, increasing its annual export cargo handling capacity to 1,25,000 metric tonnes.
The airport demonstrated operational agility during the West Asia crisis by handling 11 non-scheduled cargo freighter operations connecting Kochi with Gulf destinations, facilitating the export of perishables and essential commodities.
According to CIAL managing director S. Suhas, the airport’s focus remains on strengthening infrastructure, improving operational efficiency, and creating a future-ready logistics ecosystem. The court will resume hearing on the matter is not applicable here, instead, CIAL will continue to focus on delivering seamless freight connectivity while supporting exporters, industries, and emerging e-commerce markets.
