Devendra Kumar Dubey, a Kanpur resident, forged experience certificates to secure a Group Vice President role at Shritulja Bhavani Automobile Private Limited in Gwalior, where he drew a monthly salary of ₹2,80,670.
Police uncovered the deception when the company’s HR records were cross‑checked with the Landmark Group’s employment database, revealing a glaring mismatch.
On Monday, a Crime Branch team raided Dubey’s residence in Kanpur, seizing forged documents and arresting him on the spot.
Dubey will be transported to Gwalior for further interrogation and is expected to face charges under sections 420 (cheating) and 403 (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
The firm, which employs hundreds in the region, has announced a review of its hiring protocols to prevent future incidents.
