All Kerala Radio Drama Festival Resumes After Eight Years; Mohanlal to Feature in Two Plays

The All Kerala Radio Drama Festival, organized by Akashvani (All India Radio), has resumed after an eight-year break, with the nine-day event set to begin May 10, 2026, following its suspension during the pandemic. The festival, marking Akashvani's 90th anniversary, will feature radio plays broadcast nightly at 9:30 p.m. from regional stations including Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode, Thrissur, and Kannur, with repeats at 1:00 p.m. the following day.
Actor Mohanlal is participating in two productions: *Daivathin Manamaaru Kandu*, airing May 11 from Thiruvananthapuram station and directed by Ruby Babu, and *Kadamkathayile Virunnukaran*, airing May 17 from Kochi station and directed by MV Sasikumar and NS Jayamohan. Both plays feature prominent Malayalam cinema and television actors, with scripts by Jayaraj Mithra and Mohammed Roshan respectively.
Additional plays include *Madakkam* and *Kaanka, Kadaline, Kanthurakkathe* from Kozhikode (May 12 and 16), *Jeevithotsavam* from Thiruvananthapuram (May 13), *Sethulakshmi Kathirunna Rathotsavam* from Thrissur (May 14), and *Mounasakshi* from Kannur (May 15). A review of all productions will air on May 18.
The festival will be accessible via Akashvani’s regional FM and AM frequencies and through the 'News on Air' mobile application. The next edition is expected to be held annually, with officials indicating a formal review of audience response following the May 18 review broadcast.
