Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray announced a mass protest rally in Mumbai on Sunday, demanding the Election Commission of India scrap the Special Intensive Revision process.
The call follows accusations that the SIR, overseen by CEC Gyanesh Kumar, is being used to manipulate voter lists in favor of the ruling BJP.
Both leaders, representing the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and Shiv Sena UBT, pledged to build a united opposition front, inviting parties from across the spectrum to join.
Nandini, a 45‑year‑old shopkeeper from Chembur, said she fears her name could be dropped from the rolls, sparking a personal urgency behind the march.
Organisers plan to start the march at Metro Cinema, marching through Marine Drive and seeking to pressure the Election Commission into cancelling the SIR.
Police have already posted a contingency plan, and opposition parties are expected to convene a meeting on Monday to discuss a coordinated response.
