Ahmedabad City Crime Branch seized Tomar on Monday at a warehouse in Gopalpur GIDC, Gurugram, after locating him through a reward notice. Branch chief Rakesh Sharma said the arrest followed months of surveillance and intelligence gathering that traced the fugitive’s latest alias.
The violence traces back to a 2013 land dispute in Lepa village, Morena. Over a decade, the feud has turned lethal, with Tomar’s relatives killed by the rival clan before the May 2023 outbreak. The district police say the cycle of vengeance finally erupted during a wedding celebration.
On 20 May 2023, Tomar and two accomplices opened fire on a rival family gathered for a daughter’s wedding, killing six, including three women. Inspector General Girish Kumar of the Chambal zone confirmed the claim, noting the shooting was a retaliatory act following the earlier murders of his family members.
Sanjay, a 72‑year‑old farmer who lost his wife in the blast, says he still hears the gunshots echoing in his ears. “I spent a night crying, and I think the village still feels the pain,” he told a local reporter. Tomar will be transferred to the Morena district police for trial under IPC sections 302, 307 and the Arms Act, with proceedings expected to begin next month.
