CJI Warns Unequal Gains From Digital Innovation, AI And Globalisation
Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has questioned whether digital innovation, artificial intelligence and globalisation are distributing benefits equally across all sections of society. Delivering the 8th memorial lecture honouring Rashtrakavi Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, CJI Kant said unprecedented technological progress has transformed lives but warned that development must be measured by the equitable distribution of opportunities, not merely the expansion of resources.
CJI Kant cited Dinkar’s epic Rashmirathi to underline that a leader’s true strength lies in the struggle for dignity and constitutional equality, quoting verses that reject caste-based hypocrisy and affirm human worth. He described poets like Dinkar as “Sahityic Sangrani” who fought for India’s soul alongside freedom fighters who liberated its land, framing their work as inseparable from the constitutional promise of equality.
Bharatiya Janata Party MP and singer Manoj Tiwari received the Dinkar Sanskriti Samaan 2026 from the Chief Justice at the event. Supreme Court Bar Association President Dr. Vikas Singh, delivering the Chairman’s Address, compared Lord Krishna’s mediation efforts in the Mahabharata to the Mediation Act 2023, arguing that restoring conscience is central to justice and conflict resolution.
The Supreme Court Bar Association will continue its engagement with mediation reforms and constitutional values in upcoming sessions, with further events planned to mark the Dinkar legacy. Authorities expect these programmes to reinforce institutional focus on equitable access to technology and justice.
