A museum showcasing the history and cultural importance of silk in India has opened at Avatihall railway station in Bengaluru. The station, one of four heritage sites along the KSR Bengaluru-Chikaballapur-Kolar railway line, was recently restored by the Bengaluru chapter of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH).
The other restored stations include Doddajala, Devanahalli, and Nandi, all part of efforts to revive colonial-era rail infrastructure in the region. The Avatihall museum highlights silk's role in Indian traditions, rituals, and textile heritage through curated exhibits.
INTACH officials stated the project aims to integrate cultural education with public infrastructure. The organization plans to expand interpretive displays at the remaining heritage stations in the coming months.
