PM Modi Marks One Year of Operation Sindhoor, Hails Military's Anti-Terror Response

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 7, 2026, marked the first anniversary of Operation Sindhoor, a military response to the April 22, 2025, terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that killed civilians. Indian forces conducted precision strikes on nine targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7, 2025, in retaliation, which Modi described as a 'fitting response' to terrorism.
Speaking on X, Modi lauded the armed forces for their 'unparalleled courage, precision and resolve,' emphasizing the operation's demonstration of joint military coordination and India's advancing self-reliance in defense capabilities. He reiterated India's unwavering commitment to dismantling the infrastructure that enables terrorism.
The government has not announced new military actions, but Modi stated that India remains 'steadfast' in its counterterrorism efforts. The armed forces' preparedness and integrated operational capacity will continue to be central to national security policy, officials said.
