Asaduddin Owaisi, leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, alleged on Saturday that Nida Khan, an accused in the Tata Consultancy Services rape and exploitation case, is being subjected to a trial by media. Speaking at a press conference in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Owaisi claimed that there is a conspiracy to harass educated Muslim men and women and expressed confidence in the judiciary to deliver justice.
Owaisi cited the fact that the complainant in the matter is associated with the ruling party and that Nida Khan was transferred from her role in the HR team before the complaint was filed. He also questioned the police's claim of recovering burqa, hijab, and Muslim religious books, asking why this was being treated as a crime.
Meanwhile, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar's guardian Minister Sanjay Shirsat has accused AIMIM leader Imtiyaz Jaleel of helping Nida Khan and has demanded a thorough Special Investigation Team probe, alleging 'love jihad'. Shirsat claimed that Jaleel had pressured his party's corporator to help Khan and that there was a conspiracy that needed to be unearthed.
The case has sparked a political row, with Owaisi refusing to answer questions regarding the accusation by the police of harbouring the accused, saying that the court should decide on the matter. The court will likely hear the case in the coming days, with the judiciary expected to deliver a verdict based on the evidence presented.
