ICE announced on Thursday that Kanand Ojha, a 45‑year‑old Guyanese national, has been removed from the United States.
Ojha was wanted by Guyana's police for the July 15, 2015 murder of Nephi Noel in Georgetown, the capital city of Guyana.
He entered the U.S. legally on July 22, 2015, via JFK Airport, but his status was revoked five days later when U.S. authorities discovered the pending arrest warrant from Guyana. On September 8, 2025, the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force seized him in Long Island City, Queens.
Kenneth Genalo, director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in New York, said the removal makes New Yorkers safer and blasted policies that limit cooperation between local and federal agencies.
Separately, Ron “Andel” Forde, an alleged accomplice, was tried in 2017, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and received a 20‑year sentence. With Ojha removed, Guyana can now bring the case to trial without further extradition delays.
