On March 5, 2026, BSF troopers seized a large cache of heroin in a vehicle parked near a checkpoint in Sarai Amanat Khan, Tarn Taran district.
Karandeep Singh, a Punjab Police constable, was taken into custody after a BSF inspection revealed the drugs in his vehicle.
The haul, valued at more than ₹40 crore, is believed to have been flown in by drones from the border, a tactic the police have been trying to curb.
BSF Chief Ajay Kumar told reporters that investigators are tracing the supply chain and interrogating local informants to uncover the mastermind behind the operation.
The case will be filed with the Special Narcotics Court in Amritsar, where a hearing is scheduled for April 15, 2026.
