Chandra Nath Rath, a close aide and personal assistant to West Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Madhyamgram on the night of May 6. According to police, two bike-borne attackers opened fire on Rath's vehicle at a traffic signal, firing four rounds; three bullets struck him, including one to the head, chest, and leg. He was rushed to hospital but declared dead upon arrival.
