Indian Military Officials Highlight China-Pakistan Strategic Alliance, Affirm Readiness
Indian military officials have publicly highlighted the growing strategic convergence between China and Pakistan, warning of its implications for regional security. On the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, Director General Naval Operations Vice Admiral AN Pramod pointed to China's refusal to condemn the Pahalgam attack and its influence in diluting UN Security Council statements on terrorism, calling it evidence of diplomatic collusion. He noted that 80% of Pakistan's arms imports come from China, underscoring a deep economic, military, and strategic partnership.
Vice Admiral Pramod added that Pakistan receives advanced Chinese defense platforms, including plans to induct over 40 J-35 fighter jets in the next two years. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai emphasized that India's armed forces are prepared to face simultaneous threats from China, Pakistan, and other aligned actors. Citing the 'deeper than the seas, higher than the mountains' characterization of Sino-Pak ties, he stated that no sanctuary across the Line of Control would be safe from Indian retaliation, asserting India's right to choose the time, conditions, and method of its response.
On missile developments by China and Pakistan, Deputy Chief of Air Force Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti said the Indian Air Force conducts continuous environment monitoring to stay ahead of evolving threats. He confirmed the ongoing induction of S-400 missile systems, development of indigenous platforms like 'Kusha' and 'Sudarshan Chakra' under DRDO guidance, and reiterated that India's response capabilities are being upgraded in line with strategic requirements, though not all measures are publicly disclosed.
The statements come amid heightened regional tensions and reflect India's formal assessment of a coordinated security challenge. The armed forces leadership stressed that lessons from past operations have been integrated into current preparedness doctrine. The Ministry of Defence will review the operational posture in the coming weeks, while the armed forces continue joint readiness drills along northern and western borders.
