Congress Left DMK Alliance After Detecting Pact with AIADMK, Says MP Tagore

Congress MP Manickam Tagore stated the party withdrew from the DMK-led alliance after detecting the DMK's intention to form a government with its longtime rival, the AIADMK, following the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. He said the decision to exit was based on the belief that the proposed coalition was driven by power calculations, not ideological alignment.
Tagore, in a social media post, questioned the credibility of the DMK's secular stance, calling the AIADMK the 'B' Team of the RSS and BJP. He rejected the narrative of stability, asserting the alliance aimed solely to prevent TVK founder C. Joseph Vijay from entering government.
The Congress leader defended the party's move, stating it was correct to leave rather than compromise principles. He challenged the DMK to clarify its position, retorting, 'Who is the betrayer?' in response to earlier accusations from the DMK that Congress had betrayed alliance partners.
No formal agreement between DMK and AIADMK has been announced. The Election Commission is expected to begin coalition negotiations Friday, with parties required to submit post-poll alliance declarations by May 10.
