Police in Sri Sathya Sai district have intensified their crackdown on gambling activities, carrying out raids in Madakasira and Talupula mandals over the last two days. The raids resulted in the detention of several persons allegedly linked to organised betting operations, with cash and motorcycles seized from the spots.
The first raid was conducted on the outskirts of Rallapalli village on Friday night, where ten people were taken into custody and ₹52,000 in cash along with five motorcycles were seized. However, the alleged organiser, identified as Eeranna, fled the scene before police could nab him, prompting the formation of a search party to trace him.
In another operation, the Talupula police conducted a raid near Galivandlapalli village, detaining several persons allegedly participating in gambling activities and seizing ₹25,500 in cash. The alleged organiser was also arrested in this operation.
The police have registered cases in both incidents and have taken up further investigation. The immediate next steps include the continued search for Eeranna and the prosecution of those detained, with the police expected to provide updates on the progress of the investigations in the coming days.
