The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology announced that, as of June 2023, the electronics sector under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme has received a total of ₹19,091 crore in incentives, the highest disbursement among the 14 sectors launched in 2020.
This figure comes against sector investments of ₹20,580 crore, showing a close alignment between incentive payouts and capital inflows.
Launched in 2020 with a total outlay of ₹1.9 lakh crore, the PLI programme was designed to boost domestic manufacturing, attract investment, promote exports, generate employment and reduce imports across key sectors.
In a statement, the Ministry said it will outline revised incentive thresholds and allocation mechanisms at the upcoming Finance Ministry meeting on 15 September 2024.
