4-Year-Old Boy Survives 11th-Floor Fall in Dalian, China

A four-year-old boy survived a fall from the 11th floor of a residential building in Dalian, Liaoning province, on April 11, after climbing through a window while left unattended at home, according to family statements and local media reports. The boy, nicknamed Xiaoming, fell from the window of his family's apartment and was found on the cement ground by his father, surnamed Song, who had returned to discover the child missing.

Xiaoming was rushed to a nearby hospital with multiple fractures and severe internal injuries affecting his liver, spleen, lungs, and kidneys. Doctors assessed his survival chances at five percent, and he was admitted to the intensive care unit, where his condition was monitored twice daily. After 18 days in ICU, he was transferred to a general ward and is currently undergoing treatment and rehabilitation.

The boy's mother said surveillance footage showed Xiaoming using a key to unlock the window screen, which had been secured. When questioned, Xiaoming told his parents he climbed the window because he missed his mother and wanted to see if they were returning from delivering goods. The parents expressed relief at his survival and believe he will make a full recovery.

Local authorities have not confirmed whether any safety violations will be investigated. The family is now reevaluating home safety measures, and medical staff continue to monitor Xiaoming's progress.
