Three tourists were stranded at Lost Boy Beach in Tillamook County, Oregon, on Wednesday after a sudden tide surge filled the sea cave they used to exit.
The group had come to the secluded cove to capture a dramatic photo, ignoring warnings about unpredictable tides. Local fire chief Jeff McBrayer warned that the tide could seal exits and urged visitors to check tide apps.
At 3:45 p.m., the stranded visitors used an emergency satellite connection to call for help. Firefighters from the Netarts‑Oceanside Fire District deployed a drone to assess the situation and later used safety ropes and life vests to pull the tourists to higher ground.
All three visitors sustained only minor injuries and were not hospitalized. The incident has sparked social‑media calls for better public awareness of tide dangers and for emergency services to maintain coverage in remote beach areas.
