The incident unfolded on Oct. 8 at a bungalow in Zaid Garden, Meerut, when the victim’s wife allegedly poured a sedative into his coffee and forced him to drink it.
After losing consciousness, the husband—a 37‑year‑old electrical technician—was reportedly attacked by his spouse, who used a kitchen knife to slash his genitals.
Family members—his mother and sister—rushed to the scene, but the woman fled before they arrived. The wounded man was transported to the District Hospital where Dr. Ramesh Kumar performed emergency surgery to control bleeding and repair tissue.
Circle Officer Kotwali Sangram Singh said the police registered a complaint under IPC Sections 376 (rape) and 323 (criminal intimidation) and are currently questioning the accused, Priyanka Sharma.
Neighbors reported hearing screams and saw the victim in distress. The incident has sparked outrage in the local community, with many demanding stricter enforcement of domestic violence laws.
The court is set to hold a preliminary hearing on Nov. 5, where the accused will be formally charged and bail proceedings will commence.
