Shiva Sharma, a 28-year-old cafe operator, died at King George’s Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow after falling from a balcony in the upscale Hazratganj neighborhood on Friday night. His mother, Ranjana Sharma, has filed a First Information Report (FIR) alleging that her son’s girlfriend, social media influencer Shraddha Dubey, orchestrated his death after months of extortion and physical abuse. The complaint names Dubey, her sister Rashmi Dubey, a driver named Danish, and an associate named Adil as prime suspects in a murder case.
The sequence began around 9 pm on Saturday, when Dubey phoned Ranjana, claiming Shiva had fallen. She provided the number of Dubey’s driver, Danish, who allegedly arrived at KGMU in a private ambulance, denied knowledge of the incident, and left the scene while Shiva was still being treated. Doctors at the hospital later declared him dead. Ranjana stated that she had previously noticed unexplained injury marks on her son’s body, which he refused to discuss.
According to the FIR, Dubey allegedly threatened to release obscene videos of Shiva and damage his reputation for approximately four months. The mother described a tense dynamic where Shiva was pressured to stay with Dubey; when he sought to end the relationship or discuss marriage, the threats escalated. She recalled an incident where Dubey threatened to implicate Shiva in a theft case if he did not return to her during the death anniversary of his father.
Ranjana Sharma alleged that Shiva’s body bore extensive trauma, including cigarette burn marks on his ribs, shoulders, arms, and thighs, along with severe jaw injuries and bleeding from his eyes, ears, and nose. Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fall and the conduct of the accused individuals. The post-mortem report, which will determine the cause of death and the extent of prior injuries, is awaited by the Hazratganj police station as the case moves toward charge-sheeting.
