At about 8:30 p.m. Thursday, a confrontation erupted in Mari Pannwan village, Gurdaspur district, killing Bikramjit Singh and injuring Gurmukh Singh and Nishan Singh.
While Gurmukh Singh's father alleges a drug‑peddling mob of 10 to 15 youths instigated the attack, Ranjit Singh insists the altercation stemmed from a dispute over a mobile phone belonging to Jagroop Singh.
DSP Manoj Kumar said police had filed a case against 15 suspects, and that the matter is under investigation. The police are scrutinizing both the drug‑peddling claims and the earlier complaint lodged on the 15th.
No motive has yet been established, and forensic teams are collecting evidence from the site. A follow‑up inquiry is scheduled for next week to resolve the conflicting testimonies.
