Sagility’s stock slid 6% as traders reacted to a massive block deal that unfolded mere minutes after the market opened.
59.3 crore shares changed hands, representing 12.7% of the company’s 467.6 crore outstanding equity. The average transaction price of ₹43 pushed the total value to ₹2,543 crore, a 5% discount to Thursday’s closing price of ₹44.45.
If Sagility B.V. is the seller, its 50.95% stake will dip below the 50% threshold, leaving the subsidiary with less than half of the voting power it held at the end of September. The deal also imposes a 365‑day lock‑up on any further stake sale by the seller.
Other shareholders weighed in: mutual funds hold 15.1% of the equity, led by Axis MF, Canara Robeco MF, Kotak MF, and ICICI Prudential MF. Foreign portfolio investors own 10.38%, while small retail holders with authorized capital up to ₹2 lakh account for 7.64%.
After the block trade, the stock is trading 5.1% lower at ₹42.36, marking a 20% decline for the year so far. The 12% sale and ensuing lock‑up may limit short‑term liquidity, but the long‑term impact remains contingent on future earnings announcements and sector dynamics.
