Alexandros Paporakis, a 19‑year‑old white supremacist, was arrested on May 28, 2026 near a Chicago temple after a malfunctioning AR‑style rifle derailed his planned massacre.
A police report released by the Palatine Police Department detailed a rifle without a serial number, dozens of loaded magazines, a full body‑armor vest, a gas canister stamped with a racial slur aimed at South Asians, and a stack of Nazi insignia. The FBI, led by Indian‑American Kash Patel, is assisting the investigation.
The eight‑page manifesto, titled “Why I Fought: A.K.A. (Aurora Shooter’s Manifesto),” was seized during the raid. Prosecutors said it dehumanised Indians, Jews and African Americans as “subhumans” and outlined a plan to kill as many people as possible. The document also describes Paporakis as a “sociopathic white supremacist Neo Nazi” who fantasises about mass murder almost every day.
Suresh Kumar, head priest of the local Hindu temple, told reporters that the community feels “the weight of fear on our shoulders.” The Hindu American Foundation welcomed police action, urging anyone who notices suspicious activity to report it immediately.
The case comes amid a surge in online anti‑Indian hate, according to a September report by the Centre for the Study of Organised Hate. Indian‑Americans, the highest‑earning ethnic group in the U.S., now face a growing threat that mirrors the broader rise in anti‑immigrant sentiment.
Paporakis is currently being held pending trial; his next court appearance is scheduled for October 30, 2026. The Palatine Police Department will continue to monitor potential threats to local temples and other community venues.
