Steelbird Hi‑Tech India just crossed a landmark milestone: the SBA‑20 helmet has sold more than 1 million units since its January 2024 launch.
₹18,690‑₹24,590 – that’s the price band the brand has carved out for the mass‑to‑mid‑price segment. Safe, simple, stylish. It comes packed with a high‑impact thermoplastic shell, an EPS liner, a flip‑up design, a micrometric buckle, a polycarbonate spoiler, ventilation, a replaceable interior, a wind deflector, a reflective neck element and an anti‑scratch visor in smoke and chrome. The BIS IS 4151:2015 certification guarantees a baseline safety standard.
And then there’s the competition. Bajaj and Hero push their entry‑level helmets around ₹20,000. The SBA‑20’s feature set pushes it above the bare minimum while keeping the price competitive.
Distribution has been the secret sauce, with Steelbird tapping into both metro and tier‑2 dealer networks. The model’s presence in 500+ outlets has made it a go‑to for commuters across the country.
Rajeev Kapur, Managing Director, said the 1‑million‑unit figure reflects consumers’ appreciation for a helmet that marries safety, comfort and cost. He added that the company will keep expanding its portfolio to improve safety access across the two‑wheeler market. The SBA‑20 will continue rolling out across cities, with new variants expected to hit showroom floors by Q3 2024.
