Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday declared that the 2016 surgical strikes were a decisive response to terror attacks across the Line of Control.
The strikes, carried out on 28‑29 September 2016, followed a suicide‑bomb attack on an Army camp in Uri that killed 19 soldiers and injured 25.
Modi said the operation stunned the world, underscoring India’s zero‑tolerance policy against terrorism. He urged citizens to support the national census and join the drug‑free youth campaign.
The drug‑free youth campaign has seen millions pledge to stay away from drugs, with volunteers spreading awareness through creative campaigns across the country.
He also paid tribute to the late VHP leader Ashok Singhal on his birth anniversary, highlighting his role in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.
