The National Investigation Agency said it had deported Harwinder Kumar, a UAE‑based logistics provider for Babbar Khalsa International—before arresting him at Indira Gandhi International Airport. Kumar, known in the underworld as Sonu, had been flagged after the agency began tracing BKI operatives across borders.
Kumar’s name surfaced last year when the agency uncovered his role in arranging weapons and terror funds for BKI operatives Harjit Singh, alias Laddi, and Kulbeer Singh, alias Sidhu.
The first chargesheet in the case was filed on May 9, 2024, and three further documents have since been lodged, each detailing the conspiracy to eliminate VHP leader Vikas Prabhakar in Nangal.
Earlier this month, the NIA also seized Manveer Ram—a UAE‑based gun‑supplier—at Amritsar Airport, tightening the net around the plot’s financiers.
Now, the Special NIA Court will hear the case, with prosecutors demanding a swift trial to bring closure to the VHP community, who have watched the investigation unfold in silence.
The court is expected to schedule the first hearing by the end of September, after which it will decide on bail and further proceedings.
