Monika Singh didn’t plan to leave dentistry. She moved to Dubai 12 years ago with a clear roadmap: clear the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) licensing exams and open a clinic. But while prepping for those tests, she started attending group dance fitness classes just to unwind. That casual habit stuck, and she realized she genuinely loved being on the floor more than being in the chair. Today, she runs her own women’s wellness coaching business in Dubai, pulling in a monthly income of Dh 42,000 to Dh 45,000—roughly ₹10.9 lakh to ₹11.6 lakh a month, according to The National.
Her dental background actually became her secret weapon. Because she’d already studied anatomy and physiology in depth, she had a structural understanding of the body that many general fitness trainers lack. She built her practice around women’s wellness, specifically targeting midlife health. Her approach isn’t about high-intensity, punishing workouts; it’s about sustainable movement that helps women reach their goals without excessive strain. It’s a niche that relies on empathy and technical knowledge, not just energy.
She started small, teaching group classes at various studios across the city to build her client base and refine her style. Now, she coaches 23 dedicated clients. Despite the comfortable income, she’s keeping her head down financially. She hasn’t started investing yet, focusing instead on saving to fund the development of her own online portal and app, which will be her next major growth lever. She’s also saving for a bigger house for her family, including her seven-year-old son, whose school fees and her car loan are the primary household expenses.
If you’re stuck in a career that feels like a cage, look at the transferable skills you already have. You don’t need to start from zero—use your existing expertise to enter a new field with an edge. Whether it’s a dentist moving into wellness or a coder moving into consulting, the overlap in skills is often where the real money is. Start with a small project, build your reputation, and let the clients come to you.
