Shivendra Raje Bhosale unveiled a five‑member inquiry on Sunday, appointing former judge Dilip Bhosale as chair and IAS officer Tukaram Mundhe as secretary. The panel also includes IPS officer Laxmi Gautam, former IAS Ganesh Patil, and retired judge P D Naik.
Its mandate is twofold: probe alleged exam paper leaks and scrutinise the tenures of current and past MPSC chairpersons. Chairperson Vivek Bhimanwar has taken leave until the investigation concludes.
The move follows a ten‑day protest by MPSC aspirants at SM Joshi Bridge, who demanded reforms and called off their march after the committee was announced.
Bhosale said the panel will also tackle additional grievances: recruiting 70,000 posts over three years, expanding Group C vacancies for January, conducting background checks on the chairman and secretary, and dropping cases against protestors.
NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar welcomed Mundhe’s appointment, telling reporters that the inquiry will be independent. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasised that findings will be forwarded to the President under Article 317 for possible removal or suspension.
The committee will convene its first meeting in the coming days, after which it will submit its report to the President, who can then take action under constitutional provisions.
