Stewart Butterfield, co‑founder of Slack, and Jen Rubio, co‑founder of Away, closed a $30 million transaction for their 5‑acre Aspen estate on Oct 18, 2026, realizing a $5 million gain since buying it in January 2021.
The 10,600‑square‑foot house, perched in Aspen’s Five Trees enclave, offered six bedrooms, a home theatre, fitness centre, wine cellar, and panoramic views of Castle Creek Valley.
After a $45 million initial listing in June 2025, the asking price was slashed to $39.5 million the following June; the property went under contract on Aug 14, 2026, just days after the couple announced their split.
The deed names David “Doc” Sands and Erika Moutinho Sands, former professional poker players who cashed a deep run at the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event, as the buyers. A spokesperson for the sellers said the transaction was unrelated to the divorce and that no other properties would be sold.
The Aspen sale joins a string of high‑profile real‑estate moves: a Manhattan townhouse bought for $72.5 million in 2024, a Southampton estate at $32.2 million, and a San Francisco Victorian sold for $19.15 million in 2022.
With the transaction wrapped, the couple’s remaining properties remain untouched, and the new owners are expected to renovate the estate for private use.
