Suthar’s latest outing saw him pick 27 wickets in six County Championship matches, a strike rate that has the India A camp buzzing.
The 24‑year‑old left‑arm spinner averaged 20.5 runs per wicket, bowled 107 overs, and kept his economy at 3.1. In the same stretch he recorded a best of 5/42 against Worcestershire, turning a tense chase into a quick victory.
What set Suthar apart was his uncanny ability to tweak his line and length on three different balls. He spent months mastering the SG seam at home, the Dukes in England, and the Kookaburra in Sri Lanka, each demanding a slightly different seam movement and pace.
"I learned to read the pitch and the ball’s behaviour in real time," Suthar said after the tour of Warwickshire. "Adaptability is the name of the game now, especially when you’re heading to a place like New Zealand where the wind can dictate everything.")
With 23 wickets in his first three Tests, the spinner now looks to translate that consistency to the India A squad’s upcoming New Zealand series, where he’ll face fresh pitches and cross‑winds that could test his craft.
