The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Tuesday announced it would stage a protest on October 8 in Bengaluru to challenge the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and support women journalists who have accused Delhi Police of sexual harassment.
Co‑convener Ashutosh Ranka said the group would attend a People’s Tribunal on SIR at Freedom Park on Thursday from 10:30 a.m., where participants could voice grievances about voters being wrongfully removed.
After the tribunal, Ranka called for a “chappal protest” in solidarity with the women journalists, urging large turnout.
Founder Abhijeet Dipke, who posted on X, warned that if Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar does not resign, “cockroaches from across India will march to Delhi and protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10” as a “Jantar Mantar 2.0”.
The Election Commission maintains that the SIR process is intended to ensure accurate electoral rolls, but critics argue it risks disenfranchising voters.
