The Madhya Pradesh High Court, in a ruling issued yesterday, directed that a fresh investigation be carried out into the alleged assault of a 16‑year‑old girl at Bageshwar Dham in Chhatarpur.
Forensic analysis from Sagar lab proved that the accused, Raju Jatav, was not the biological father of the fetus, contradicting the initial accusation.
During trial, the girl denied that Jatav had raped her, a stark reversal from her earlier statements under BNSS sections 180 and 183.
Justice Ajay Kumar Nirankari denied Jatav's second bail plea and ordered the Chhatarpur Superintendent of Police to form a Special Investigation Team to resolve the contradiction within two months.
The ruling came amid a warning issued by Bageshwar Dham's management urging women to avoid visiting alone and to stay within the temple bounds.
