The $10 million pledge will pave the way for the new Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital to replace the aging facility, adding a significant number of beds and state‑of‑the‑art technology for diagnostics and treatment—an upgrade that could cut patient wait times by up to 30%.
Rayla Myhal, president of the foundation, said, "When a community comes together, it can build something none of us could build alone."
The matching challenge means every dollar donors contribute will be doubled by the foundation, effectively turning a modest public outlay into a national investment in healthcare infrastructure. Caroline Riseboro, CEO of Trillium Health Partners, added, "Our community’s generosity fuels a system that is more proactive, connected, and personalized."
The expansion will also create a dedicated Shah Family Hospital for Women and Children, complete with specialized inpatient and outpatient spaces, and a revamped Queensway Health Centre focused on long‑term care and rehabilitation—features that will ease the load on emergency departments across the network. Karli Farrow noted that the new beds and expanded services are expected to reduce the strain on current wards and improve patient flow.
If you’ve ever been a patient or know someone who has benefitted from Trillium’s care, consider donating or spreading the word about the matching challenge. Your contribution could help make modern, efficient care a reality for Mississauga residents.
