Chris and Alison Temple have listed the former Old Kirk church in Fordyce, north‑east Scotland, for sale, with offers starting at £550,000.
Built in the 1700s, the stone building served as a place of worship for over two centuries before the Temples purchased it in 2014 and gutted the nave to create a commercial kitchen, turning the nave into a bistro that still hosts lunch and dinner while the rest of the property has been converted into a five‑bedroom family home.
The 4,779‑square‑foot house retains original arched windows and soaring ceilings, with oak flooring, underfloor heating, and a commercial‑grade Siemens kitchen that balances historic character with modern convenience.
The property sits on 0.35 acres of landscaped grounds, a stone wall, and a nearby stream, making it one of the few former churches in the region that offers both residential and commercial income streams.
Savills, the estate agency handling the sale, says the property is still on the market and that offers will be reviewed by the Temples next week, with the first decision expected by late November.
