Javed Sheikh Shahid Manyar, 33, was taken into custody in Jalgaon after police recovered a 38‑year‑old woman’s body the previous night. She was found with head injuries and burns from a room heater, according to the MIDC Police. The incident was reported on Wednesday.\n
\nThe victim, who lived with her husband and two daughters, was said to have had a 15‑year relationship with Manyar, who works as an air‑conditioner technician in Nagpur. She had been pressuring him to marry her, a request he refused because he was already married.\n
\nOn Sunday evening, an argument erupted when Manyar visited the woman’s house while her husband was away. He struck her on the head with a heavy object and then set her body ablaze with a room heater, the MIDC Police officer confirmed. The attack left her with severe burns and a fatal head injury.\n
\nAfter the assault, Manyar fled the scene and boarded a train to Jalgaon. He was arrested by police the following day and taken to the city’s police station, where he remains in custody. A preliminary medical report ruled out electric shock as the cause of death.\n
\nA court has remanded Manyar in police custody until October 17, pending further investigation. The police are still probing the motive and any accomplices.\n
\nThe case has shocked the local community, with the victim’s daughters having returned home on Monday to find their mother’s body, and the family confronting the sudden loss of their mother and caretaker.
