Madras High Court on Friday issued a notice to investigate the identity and background of Cockroach Janta Party co‑convener Saurav Das, a journalist, after a petition was filed.
Saurav Das has frequently criticized the judiciary in his editorials and social media posts, sparking controversy among legal circles.
The petition calls for the cancellation of Das’s passport and Aadhaar card should the court find the allegations to be true, a move that could also lead to a block on his social media accounts.
The court will review the plea in the coming weeks and decide whether to impose any restrictions against the journalist.
