Railway police recovered the body of 17‑year‑old Tholuchuri Vivek on the down line near Bolarum station at about 2 pm on August 16, after receiving a tip from local residents.
CCTV footage released by the Railway Protection Force shows Vivek trespassing along the tracks while wearing white earphones and an iPhone 16 Pro Max, evidence that the device was likely contributing to his distraction.
The Government Railway Police registered a case under section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and issued a statement urging the public to avoid the tracks and refrain from using earphones near rail lines.
Krishnamurthy, Vivek’s father from Thurkapally village, confirmed the identity of the body and expressed disbelief at the circumstances, calling the incident a tragic loss for a young life.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar warned that earphones create distractions on roads and trains, adding that this incident underscores the need for stricter enforcement of track safety protocols.
Investigators will continue to examine the footage and interview witnesses; the case may be forwarded to the local court for prosecution within the next fortnight.
