MODI POSTED ON X, CALLING THE CONVERSATION "PRODUCTIVE", and highlighted the two leaders’ review of bilateral ties in trade, defence, energy and critical technology.
The Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, launched in 2020, has been a flagship framework for India‑US collaboration, aiming to expand joint ventures and technology transfer. In the call, Modi and Trump reiterated the partnership’s core objectives, underscoring the need to translate policy into practice.
A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said the leaders "restated their commitment to advancing the India‑US CGSP" and "looked at how cooperation has progressed so far". The statement praised the strides made in defence procurement and clean‑energy projects.
Beyond the bilateral agenda, the leaders exchanged views on regional stability, citing the Indo‑Pacific’s strategic importance and the broader quest for global peace and security. "We also discussed how to strengthen multilateral institutions," Modi added, hinting at future diplomatic outreach.
Industry voices welcomed the call, noting that the renewed focus on critical technologies could unlock new markets for Indian firms. A senior official from the Ministry of Commerce said the conversation would likely accelerate pending trade agreements.
While the call did not set a concrete timetable, both leaders said they would "maintain close engagement" and "pave the way for joint initiatives". The next step is expected to involve a formal meeting of joint task forces to outline specific projects under the CGSP umbrella.
